Too much of blogging (especially my blogging!) is about obscure technical minutia that has no real meaning to anyone other than a tiny collection of geeks... So, it is a little refreshing to be able to write about something other than network latency, the differences between retrospective and prospective search, and the true nature of Creative Commons licenses...
Today, we "launched" a new page on the PubSub site that is devoted to the finer things in life: Fashionable Blogs. This is both a listing and a ranking of blogs that deal primarily with Fashion. The list isn't machine generated -- rather it was picked by real human beings (whose taste in fashion is probably a bit suspect although we did have the help of a fashion reporter from a *very large* local New York newspaper...). So, if you crave to see who among the blogging fashionistas has the most InLinks or the best LinkRank, check out PubSub's Fashionable Blogs at: http://www.pubsub.com/features/fashion/. If you don't really care about the rankings but just want to see a list of some of the most interesting fashion bloggers, you can do that too.
We're thinking that it would be fun to host a wide variety of lists like this one. Each list would be "edited" by some real human being and PubSub would provide the hosting as well as the daily updates to the ranks, etc. We're not looking for comprehensive "neutral" lists like you find on DMOZ and we're not interested in producing the cold machine "algorithm" selected lists that you might get from a Technorati Blog Finder. We want lists with voice and perspective which are selected, culled and maintained by real people... And, we want lists of blogs, not "websites." If you've got an idea for a domain-specific blog list that you'd like to edit and maintain, please drop a line to feedback@pubsub.com and let us know what you propose...
For instance, if your name was Jason and you really wanted a sorted and ranked list of the "Top 500" bloggers, you could give us a list of candidate blogs and we'd do the ranking, filtering and hosting for you on a daily basis. We would probably even let you call it "Jason's 500" (Powered by PubSub)...
